There is just a hint of toning to the spines and the occasional light mark. Internally there is a band of acid migration from the dentelles on the edge of the free endpapers and page following. Volume I has an inscription on the front free endpaper reading, “George Pereira/ bought from/ Francis Edwards/ 19-12-17 for/ £13, - 24 vols/ Guards Club/ Pall Mall”. Pereira has also written his name and the date of purchase in each of the other volumes. There is no indication what the other 15 volumes were. George Pereira CB, CMG, DSO [1865-1923] was a British Army officer, diplomat and explorer. All in all a beautiful miniature set in an excellent Zaehnsdorf binding.
