Royal 8vo pp [ii] xx 286 (6) (index), vignette half page engraved part titles to each season, separate argument leaf to each season, and engraved tail pieces to each season. Hymn at the end with half page engraved part title. 9 illustrations in total. Contemporary full calf gilt boards, marbled end papers, marbled edges, raised bands, highlighted in black. An unusual and attractive binding. Internally very clean. Armorial book plate of Henry William Shaw.

The Bewick Seasons was issued in different formats. This is the Royal 8vo, on thick paper, measuring 24cm in height. It was advertised as ‘A splendid Royal Octavo edition, printed in the best style by Bensley, on a superfine wove Paper, upon a new and very large Type’ Tattersfield TB 2.569 (Vol 2: 615).
