Book Description

The Story of Blackpool, Allen Clarke, Palatine Books Co, 1923, Signed First Edition, First Impression Allen Clarke, the famous politically charged author and journalist, famous for his portrayal of Lancashire factories, mills and landscapes, moved to Blackpool later in life and penned a comprehensive history of the town. Now rare, especially signed. The front end paper has been signed and dated by the author with a neat personal dedication Included with the book is a postcard signed by the author. The book is illustrated throughout with photographs. In near fine condition, the binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering on the front board and spine bright. There is wear to all the corners, minimal shelf wear to the top edge of the spine and a crease mark to the bottom corner of the back board. The end papers and pages are free from marks and tears. It is becoming increasingly rare to find this book, especially signed, making it an impressive addition to a library or a wonderful gift.
