Book Description

C1920's. Limited Edition of 250 copies, this being No. 34. Signed twice by the author, to limitation page and with dedication to opposite page. Paper covered boards over black cloth spine, black lettering to upper board and decorative endpapers. Fully illustrated with black & white woodcuts and designs throughout the text. A few light marks and rubbing to boards, light scuffing to corners, edges and tips of the spine as seen in photos, otherwise a firm and sound copy. Internally clean and fresh with light thumbing to bottom of a few pages and a touch of foxing to endpapers and throughout the book, worse to the bottom of a couple of pages. 'Molly McArthur (1893-1972) had two distinct styles of illustration. From the middle of the 1920s, she moved on from earlier highly-decorative ?fairy? art to produce beautiful monotone woodcuts in a distinctly oriental style'.
