Richard Bentley, London, 1839, first edition; volume I only (of two); 8vo, 130 x 205mm; pp xiv, [xv], 312; frontispiece lithograph of Khosrou Mirza, the Persian Envoy to St Petersburg, and four line drawings in the text; original brown ribbed and blind stamped cloth boards; professionally rebacked and with the original spine laid down; apparently contemporary ownership inscription on the title page, "Captain Hughes Madras Lt. Cavalry";some light foxing or soiling internally and with some pencilled observations and comments on the text but generally clean.
