Almost certainly a contemporary French provincial binding ( Poitiers ? ) of full calf over boards, very lightly rubbed. The covers with an outer double line frame enclosing flower heads connected by oval seeds (?) , the inner corners of the frame with fleurons. The smooth spine with a red title label, and the upper and lower panels with floral decorations. Gilt inner dentelles. Pink endpapers. Light abrasions in the centre of both covers do not detrac greatlyt from this very good plus example of a French provincial binding, which is clearly does not reach the high standards of the Parisien binders.
