The portrait frontispiece an additional title page, engraved (A1v). All edges speckled red. Vol.1. Third edn. corrected and amended. Vol. II. Third edn. corrected and amended. Vol. III. Second edn. corrected and amended. Vol.IV. Second edn. corrected and amended. Vol. V. Second edn. corrected and amended. Vol. wants the front endpaper. A translation of: Plutarch. Moralia. Some pages in Vols.IV, and V. have been mis numbered , the text is complete. The volumes were apparently issued separately as well as together. Each Volume is to a different dedicatee, and each, and each signed by one of the ' hands '. All volumes are occasionally very lightly dusty in the head margins otherwise a clean crisp set. Contemporary panelled sprinkled calf worn, corners bumped, the spines with five raised bands, panels with intricate designs of interwoven leaves, small flowers, acorns and nuts. Spines chipped at the head and toe. Previous owner's name in pencil on the front pastedown of a couple of volumes. A near very good set in a pleasing contemporary binding, well held institutionally as single volumes. Most uncommon and possibly even scarce as a complete five volume set.
