Book Description

1st Edition, 1st Impression, 12.9 x 20.5 cm pale blue boards with yellow titles to the spine, 155[1]pp with original unclipped jacket priced at £2.25. Signed and inscribed by the author to the title page to historian Hugh Brogan and also with a signed postcard referring to the book from Laski to Brogan laid in. A near fine book, clean and bright with firm sharp corners and just a neat ownership name to the front free endpaper. The jacket which is now protected in a clear removable jacket (not shown) is in excellent condition with just a hint of shelf wear along the bottom edge and touch of creasing along the top. This was Laski’s last novel and is widely considered to be her best work. A really lovely association copy with the postcard and the inscription referring to Brogan as ‘The best of all readers’ testimony to their friendship.
