Book Description

Soldiers of Misfortune, P.C.Wren, John Murray, 1929, First Edition First Impression An excellent copy of the rare first edition first impression published by John Murray in 1929. The book follows the exploits of one of the characters from Wren's earlier Beau Geste, Otto Belleme, an Oxford graduate and prizefighter who joins the French Foreign Legion. The binding is superbly tight and straight, the boards clean with gilt lettering and the pages and endpapers clean without marks, tears or inscriptions. Minimal foxing to the fore edge. The dust jacket, protected in a clear removable cover, is remarkable, bright colourful without any real wear other than a touch of darkening. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
