Printed at Ipswich for the Author, 1849, 1st edition. Original marbled paper covered boards, original paper label to front board. Teg. 10ins x 8ins, vi, 84pp plus frontis, 10pp plates and a folding coloured plan. Other illustrations and 3 pedigrees within the text. Previous owners armorial bookplate (Stodart) to front pastedown and his signature to first blank page. Different owners bookplate (Methold) to first blank verso after the endpapers. Recently resewn with a new maroon cloth spine. Maroon endpapers have been re-inforced with maroon tape to the hinges. Steward 2852. Corners worn. At the time of writing there were no original copies listed on the internet - only inferior "print on demand" editions. G+, but a rare survivor.
