Five raised bands to spine, gilt lettering to second & 3rd compartments, black "leaf" decoration to others. 11.5ins x 9.25ins, marbled endpapers, xii, 192pp, 80pp appendix and index, plus frontis and 20 plates including a coloured map. Also vignette to title page, illustration to dedication page and 10 illustrations within the text. Many of the plates are tinted with a sepia effect. Appendix covers the geology, botany and ornithology of the forest. Scattered light foxing, but the plates are mostly unaffected. Previous owners bookplate to front pastedown The binding is tight and attractive.
