Advert leaf to first part sometime removed, but two ad leaves as called for present in the second part. Contemporary calf, marbled endpapers, front board detached, a slight mark to the title page of second part, but overall a nice clean example. Early signature Francis Kirchhoffer 1776 to title page of first part. William Law s famous texts were profoundly influential, for example on Gibbon and Samuel Johnson, as well as being reprinted in North America many times. Early editions appear to be surprisingly uncommon. These two early editions were also issued as part of Law s collected works, hence on the spine of our volume Law s Works, Volume 1.
