Dealer Notes
FIRST EDITION of this re-written version; one of several 'updated' children's titles edited in new versions by E H Barker of Thetford; some of his other textbooks are advertised at the end, but this one, recalling Dodsley's early 18th century classic was issued from Skill's toy-shop in Swaffham, its exterior memorably depicted in the frontispiece to this book. Skill is an interesting publisher who issued Scargill's much collected 'Recollections of a Blue-coat Boy' the previous year to this, and in similar format. Like that classic title Barker's Toy Shop, with its updated set of illustrations and text, is quite scrace in any condition, this a complete copy but showing obvious evidence of use and wear.
