Folio - 8 x 13 . Rebound in full calf with 5 raised bands and black label with title on spine; the rebind could be several 100 years or more old - there doesn t seem anything to date it. Silk headbands top & bottom. Original book commences with Portrait page of Sir William, then title page, then page to His Royal Highness written by Mary D Avenant. Then a page headed READER and verso of this page TABLE , then page Gondibert: An Heroik Poem Written by Sir William Davenant - dated 1672 at bottom of page, followed by other poems, and finishes at p402. Thomas Hobbes writes The Answer to the Preface - p21-27. The 2nd section of book is headed The Siege Of Rhodes by Sir William D Avenant and dated 1672 and continues for 486pps finishing with The Cruel Brother . The 3rd section starts with News from Plimouth a Play; and continues for 112pps finishing with The Fair Favorite . Total no of pages is 1010. Pps 55&56 of first section have been wrongly numbered 65 & 66; also top corner of p135/136 has been torn off . There is a crack on the spine several pps in but all pps are tight in binding. There is some verl slight browning to many of the pps, especially to the top and side edge of the pps. also a few pps seem to have gotten a little crinkled. The rebind is in good condition, with the corners slightly bumped. All contents listed in the Table have been checked they are in the book.(Reference Wing D320) Book weighs 3kg.
