Book Description

Indian Trilogy, V.S Naipaul, Deutsch / Heinemann, 1964 - 1990, First Editions, First Impressions A set of three volumes detailing the author's travels to India and containing his wonderful insights on the major changes experienced by this vast country over the period of three decades, from his first trip in the early sixties as detailed in An Area of Darkness 1964), to his second visit to the country prompted by the Emergency of 1975 as relayed in India: A Wounded Civilisation (1977) through to his final visit in India: A Million Mutinies Now (1990). Both travelogue and historical summary Naipaul is at his best in capturing the essence of India's transition during the first half century of independence. An Area Of Darkness - First Edition, First Impression in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering bright. The end papers and pages are clean without marks or tears. There is a neat personal dedication to the first free page. The black tint to the top edge is partially retained. The clipped dust jacket, protected in a clear removable cover, is in good condition. The colours are bright with shelf wear to the edges, loss to the back cover, a mark to the front and a tear to the top edge of the back cover. Far better than most copies seen these days. India: A Wounded Civilisation - First Edition, First Impression in very good condition. The binding is straight and tight, the boards clean and the lettering bright. The end papers and pages are clean without marks or tears. There is a neat personal inscription and owner's name to the front paper and some minor foxing to the top edge. The unclipped dust jacket, protected in a clear removable cover, is in very good condition with a scuff mark to the bottom corner of the back cover. India: A Million Mutinies Now - First Edition, First Impression in near fine condition. The book and unclipped dust jacket are without issues. Rarely seen offered as a set. Would make a wonderful addition to a library or gift. Will be dispatched, fully insured, carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and in a cardboard box.
