Scenes in the Sunny South; including the Atlas Mountains and the Oases of the Sahara in Algeria.
Book Description
FIRST EDITION. Vereker, a younger son of the second Viscount Gort, joined the R.A. and rose to Lieut. Colonel. This is his first book, dealing with an area then little known to the English abroad, and including also travels in Spain, Corsica and Italy. He returned in May, in time for 'the rigorous severities of our English summer'. He was also author of two novels in three volumes (neither in Wolff). The present work is also uncommon, Library Hub recording six locations only. This copy was formerly in Bath Public Reference Library, with bookplate and acquisition note 'Mrs. Miles, in memory of her husband, the late Col. Samuel Barrett Miles, 1920'. Neat blind stamp on titles and a few other leaves (in no way disfiguring).
