A complete copy. Lithograph title page with view of Elland Tunnel, printed title, dedication leaf , 34 pages of text, 19 lithographed plates. The original gutta percha binding has, as often with this type of binding, perished so the contents are disbound. Some wear to page edges, some minor short tears, occasional spotting to the plates, one plate ( Todmorden Viaduct ) has extensive spotting to the right hand margin and some heavy spots to the top right hand corner of the image.
Dealer Notes
The line was engineered by George Stephenson, opened in stages from 1839 and was complete by 1841. After company mergers etc. in 1847 the Manchester & Leeds became the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway.
