Buschmann's allegorical colophon (rare variant) at end. Number 26 of the edition on van Gelder laid paper (250 copies) of a total of 270 copies printed on Christmas day 1896. Charles (Karel) Doudelet (1861-1938), Belgian Symbolist painter, engraver, illustrator, binding designer, graphic artist and stage designer.
A lot of his work is reminiscent of Edward Burne-Jones's Kelmscott Chaucer illustrations.
